91 hiking routes in South Africa, Lesotho, eSwatini and Namibia: 52 multi-day trails and 39 day hikes. For each one we opened the page of the park or trail operator that runs it on 9 October 2026, and copied distances, grades and fees exactly as they publish them.

Before you go

Walk well on the mountain.

The parks give the same advice again and again: do not hike alone (four is the number SANParks suggests), start early, tell someone your route and when you will be back, stay on the path, carry water and a warm, waterproof layer even in summer, and turn back if the weather turns. Each trail below carries the safety notes its own managing body publishes.

Getting ready

A multi-day trail asks for several long days in a row with a pack. WalkWell Further holds the multi-day hike training plan, hills and strong-feet work; the Advisor answers blister, food and pacing questions; and the caminos are a gentler, host-to-host way to walk for days.
